Why Brangus Cattle Thrive in Florida's Heat

Anyone who has run cattle in Central Florida knows the summer is the real test. The heat sits on you, the humidity does not break, and the bugs never quit. A lot of cattle breeds that look great in a sale catalog simply melt down here. That is exactly why we run registered Brangus at Faria's Sunset Ranch.

The Brahman side handles the weather

Brangus is a cross of Brahman and Angus. The Brahman half is where the toughness comes from. These cattle carry loose skin, extra sweat glands, and a natural tolerance for heat and insects. While other breeds stand in the shade panting, Brangus keep grazing. In a place like Clermont, where summer runs long, that hardiness is the difference between cattle that struggle and cattle that thrive.

The Angus side brings the beef

Heat tolerance alone does not put a good steak on the table. That is where the Angus half earns its keep. Angus genetics bring the marbling, tenderness, and flavor that people actually want. Put the two together and you get an animal that holds up to Florida and still eats well anywhere.

Built for Central Florida pasture

Our pastures sit in Lake County, just west of Orlando. The combination of warm-season grass and a breed suited to the climate means our herd stays healthy year round without us fighting the weather every step of the way. Healthy cattle, raised low-stress on grass, is the whole point.

Registered for a reason

Ours are registered through the International Brangus Breeders Association. That means documented bloodlines behind every animal, not guesswork. If you want to understand why those papers matter, we wrote more about that here.
